GUERRILLA GRAPPLING
Bully Resiliency Program
It's no secret that bullying is a very serious problem facing our children today.

-
1 in 5 high school students were bullied at school or in a physical fight within the past year.

-
Physical bullying is one of the most common forms of bullying in schools, affecting a significant percentage of students worldwide.
-
Studies have shown that physical bullying can occur repeatedly over time, with some victims experiencing daily or weekly incidents.
-
Physical bullying tends to peak during middle school years, although it can occur at any age within the school system.
-
Victims of physical bullying may suffer from various physical and psychological effects, including injuries, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
-
Many instances of physical bullying go unreported due to fear of retaliation, shame, or a belief that adults won't intervene effectively.

The best gifts you can give your child are the tools to defend themselves.

The Guerrilla Grappling Junior Grappler Training Program focuses on 3 distinct elements:
-
1st: through the conduct of different role play scenarios kids are taught how to verbally respond to a potential bully/aggressor. Students are taught eye contact, how to speak, what to say, and non-verbal communication to deescalate the conflict.
-
2nd: should the need to physically defend themselves arise, students are taught standing techniques from our core self-defense curriculum. Technique examples include:
-
how to defend against a bully grabbing you by the hair,
-
headlock defenses,
-
punch defenses,
-
kick defenses, and
-
takedowns.
-
-
3rd: if a fight is taken to the ground, students are taught ground fighting techniques. Most fights, especially those against an untrained opponent, end up on the ground. Our kids are taught how to defend against a larger stronger opponent intent on taking them to the ground, holding them down, and against ground strikes.
Our Junior Grapplers understand how to safely escape these situations and create separation. If needed, they also understand how to safely control the aggressor without harming themselves or the bully until others can help.
The intent behind our program is to provide kids in our community with the tools for conflict resolution and how to physically defend themselves. As a result, we end up with kids who are more confident, have higher self-esteem, and are happier in general. We provide a safe training environment fostering learning and growth. Our culture is built on discipline, fun, and mutual respect. We believe in the work hard/play hard attitude as part of our training. After putting in the time and effort we have various games we play at the end of class ensuring our kids are always having fun.

Throughout our program, your kids will understand:

-
Eye Contact
-
How to project confidence (non-victim mentality)
-
Distance management
-
Hair pull, punch, kick, and takedown defenses
-
Ground fighting escapes and defenses
-
